Hey everyone! I'm a senior at the University of Dayton graduating in May training for a marathon to celebrate the next phase in my life. I've got a journalism major and a Spanish minor and am currently applying for jobs at newspapers and news services.
I'm coming up on my 11 year running anniversary in July. I started with cross country and track training in seventh grade, and have run all year long, in every nasty and beautiful kind of weather Ohio has to offer, since. It's my primary means of stress relief, staying in shape, and, like most runners, generally maintaining my sanity, and I hope it always will be. I also spin, lift, and occasionally swim for cross training mainly to stave off injury, but also because I'm interested in fitness in general.
Running has been led me a lot of exciting places and taught me a lot over the years, and I'm excited to see where my feet take me next.
I enjoy longer runs the most, and my favorite place to train is anywhere new. I think running one of the best ways to get to know a new place because it allows you to see a completely different side of things than you can from a car; you literally cover a lot of ground on a run, and see things up close so you really notice its character. I love training on trails and anywhere as off-the-beaten path as I can get.
I also habitually drink coffee, sing and play guitar, and have an unbridled sense of adventure. I'm from Ohio but would love to relocate West, like to Colorado or Arizona because of the sun, landscape, and using fitness as lifestyle is more the norm than the exception it often is in the Midwest.
My motto: You're only garanteed live once, so work as hard as you can to make life everything you want it to be.
Running is just one way in which I try to live out this attitude.
